Lava-licious

Posted by melissamccart on September 6, 2006

The other day at a kati roll tasting with dcist people, I guess I had hotsauce.jpgbeen missing really hotness and I ate a serrano chili pepper whole.  Though it was crazy-hot, it was definitely fun.  And it reminded me that I should be lathering stuff with my new favorite hot sauce, Lava.

Thanks to my friend Dave who led me to Lava, I now have the perfect spicy condiment (unless you make chow chow really hot, but I haven’t found one that’s hot enough yet).  He found out about it through hotsauceblog.com, which says this about it:

The thing that makes Loco Luna Hot Sauces stand out amongst the growing sea of hot sauces, is the worcestershire sauce and the lack of an overpowering vinegar flavor. My first thought after trying the Loco Luna sauce was “Damn, this would make a kick ass Bloody Mary” – So far, I’ve eaten Loco Luna on Indian food, Lebanese food, Mexican food, Tuna fish sandwich, Sushi and even just plain ole crackers, it’s that good.

Unfortunately for us, it’s only available by mail.  But as good as Uncle Brutha’s is, Lava’s better.
